‘Smoke’ · New Speed-Painting Video

I wanted to see if I could paint smoke. I had this idea in my head of what I wanted it to look like, but getting it onto paper wasn’t so simple. I tried watercolour first. But the wet-on-wet gave more of a feathered look than the wispy translucent look I was going for. So I tried gouache. It was great for giving the background that burning glow to the sky but not so great for smoke. Acrylic paint smudged and smeared just how I wanted. And I ended up using all three of them.

Bedside Table Make-Over

But really, despite investing countless hours and pennies into turning my workspace into a beautifully streamlined, creative haven (very pinterest) I can honestly and regretfully say that a majority of what I do, I do from my bed. Dorothy The Elephant

Meet Dorothy. Look at her. What a cutie. Now, if you’ve been following me for a while, you might recognise this little gem. She was the subject of the the first ever drawing I posted online (as semiskimmedmin) (…Well, she wasn’t called Dorothy then; she was actually called ‘psychedelephant’. *Cringe*.) But, you know, the concept hasn’t changed- the design. She’s psychedelephant 2.0, revamped to match my current style of artwork. And I think she turned out pretty darn adorable.
